Community Outreach

Community Outreach

We take great pride in the communities in which we have offices and participate in or sponsor events
such as scholarships, charitable donations, and educational sessions to young engineers and students.

Adopt a Family for the HolidaysAdopt-A-Family
Gausman & Moore once again participated in the Catholic Charities “Adopt a Family for the Holidays” Program. Each year we sponsor several families. The families send us a wish list, and then we provide two or three gifts for each family member.

“I would like to say thank you for making my Christmas a wonderful holiday come true." ---
A thank you from a holiday family.

Adrian Keller Scholarship
As part of our 75th anniversary celebration Gausman & Moore decided to award a scholarship to a college student annually. The scholarship is awarded to a student through the University of Minnesota Center for Sustainable Building Research (CSBR) in preparation for a career in engineering.

The scholarship was established in memory of one of Gausman & Moore’s legendary principals, Adrian P.H. Keller, who served at Gausman & Moore for 47 years and passed away in December 2009. Ade loved engineering and was a great proponent of higher education. We are certain Ade would be thrilled and proud to have this scholarship dedicated in his name.

AIA Architectural Registration ExamAIA Architectural Reg. Exam
Gausman & Moore is proud to dedicate resources to the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) in preparing architects for the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE). Part of the curriculum for earning AIA licensure is several hours of instruction related to building systems. Each year, two of our Partners teach a portion of the Building Systems engineering and design segment of the exam study course. Jim Manning, PE, teaches the Mechanical Engineering course and Dave Blume, PE, teaches the Electrical Engineering course.

We know that interdisciplinary design and construction teams are better aligned and work best together when they understand and appreciate the concepts involved in each other’s work. We are committed to the AIA and enjoy working with their members every chance we get.

Internship Program
There is no doubt internships are extremely beneficial for students, companies, and college programs alike. At Gausman & Moore we truly believe that reaching out to help the next generation of engineers is one of the most vital things we can do. We are dedicated to making sure the profession of engineering remains strong and to do our part to enhance the creativity and performance of bright, new graduates in the field.

We are especially excited about offering exposure to the consulting engineering profession. Our interns gain a valuable introduction to engineering for the built environment, obtain solid work experience, and get acclimated to the workplace as well. A student begins the first phase of their internship with us after their sophomore year. It gives them the opportunity to determine whether or not this is an area they want to pursue. A student will intern a second time after their junior year to prepare them to hit
the ground running after they graduate.

Lake Superior Design Retreat
Gausman & Moore staff have attended the Lake Superior Design Retreat for 23 years. Dave Blume and Jim Manning attended the 2014 LSDR Retreat on February 21-22.

The Lake Superior Design Retreat is an always fascinating, 2-day journey into the world of the Design Process through the eyes of designers from many, often quite diverse, disciplines.

From Friday afternoon to Saturday night there are presentations, meals, tours and breaks, all aimed at starting a dialogue among people with various occupations who share a passion for design. This year's Retreat featured an inventor, a collaborative architect, an interpretive ranger and an expert on origami.

The collaborative spring cleaning event was enjoyed by all the volunteers, and appreciated by neighborhood residents.
